I am writing this letter in support of Work Opportunities Unlimited and the work they have done with Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) for the past two years to provide career exploration and work-based learning opportunities for our students with disabilities.
The partnership between AACPS and Work Opportunities began with identifying the student population we wanted to work with, discussing the services that could be provided, and planning the details of how and when these services would be implemented. The staff at WOU was helpful and offered ideas on how to make this successful. This communication and helpfulness continued when our world changed resulting in a need to flip to a virtual service delivery model. The WOU staff did not hesitate and were on board with continuing to provide services to our students despite the change.
WOU has worked with many students over the past year and a half providing career exploration, job readiness, work-based learning experiences, and job placement. During this time, we have had a few challenging cases where their expertise has been crucial to the student’s success. In addition, WOU has sought out additional resources to aid in these student’s success. The services they are providing are invaluable to our student’s growth and future success.
