Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is pleased to announce that Sue Abel has taken on a newly created role as Senior Director of Quality & Development, effective July 2026.
In this position, Sue will leverage her extensive experience in employment services across multiple states to drive continuous improvement in service quality and support the development of new service opportunities. She will work closely with teams throughout Florida to ensure the highest standards of service delivery across all service areas, with a particular focus on the professional development of team members in a variety of roles. In addition, Sue will identify and secure opportunities to expand both WOU and IW within existing service areas and into communities throughout Florida that are not yet being served.
Since joining WOU in 1987 as an Employment Representative, Sue has held numerous leadership positions throughout her distinguished career. Her roles have included Vice President of Field Services, overseeing operations across six states; Vice President of WOU’s Maine Division, where she led the development of four new offices throughout the state; Director of the Portland and Biddeford, Maine offices; and Director of the Palm Beach and Broward, Florida offices. Reflecting on her experience with WOU, Sue shared, “I love that WOU offers many opportunities for growth and development.”
Sue earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina. She resides in Palm Beach with her husband and enjoys long-distance cycling and raising puppies for the nonprofit Topaz Assistance Dogs.
