Joe had never had a paid job before and his speech is somewhat limited. To help offset these challenges, Joe worked with Work Opportunities Unlimited on his resume and application writing skills, and most importantly his ability to express himself effectively in an interview. Joe’s job goal was to work in an office setting, which is exactly what was secured. Joe’s employer is a major law firm, which had never employed someone with the challenges faced by Joe. Although nobody at the law firm had ever worked with someone like him, they all stepped up to train Joe and build a relationship with and support him in his new job. Joe’s story was so compelling that a local news station filmed and showed a report on the evening news.
