L to R: Lisa Jaloski, Jasmine Plante, Ryan Mountain

(Stuart, FL) Jasmine Plante, a Career Resource Specialist on the Martin County team, was presented a Success at Work award by Ryan Mountain during a recent team meeting. She was nominated for the award by Director Lisa Jaloski. Since the award’s inception in 2000, Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) has presented the Success at Work award to honor and recognize team members who have delivered outstanding service consistent with the company’s core values.

Jasmine provides person-centered support to the individuals she serves to create new opportunities for success in the workplace. She customizes job searches for her clients to help them secure meaningful positions that meet their unique skills, interests, and career aspirations. One individual desired a job in the challenging field of graphic design. Jasmine assisted him with brainstorming job opportunities, researching employers and roles, and preparing him for interviews. With Jasmine’s persistence, the individual secured a position at a clothing company that aligns with his interests and career goals. In addition, Jasmine works extensively with individuals and their managers through the process of retention planning to ensure long-term success. After completing on-the-job training, one individual was promised full-time hours but, for two months, his hours remained part-time. Jasmine advocated for her client through regular contact with management and held a retention plan meeting with the individual and the entire management team, where a definite date was identified for his schedule to switch to full-time hours. The individual is successfully working full time, and he and his parents are thrilled.

Another core value that Jasmine implements every day is building successful, reciprocal relationships. Jasmine received a referral for a previous client who was working at a local mall, but when management changed, the individual began to struggle at work. Two directors had attempted to contact the new manager for months to no avail, but Jasmine patiently “tried another way” to forge a connection with the new manager. Jasmine has since developed a successful relationship with this employer, and the individual is thriving. Lisa says, “Whether it is advocating for the individuals she supports in the workplace, finding a job that aligns with their career goals, or meeting with an employer, Jasmine can always be counted on to be positive and professional. Jasmine is a pleasure to work with and an integral part of the Martin County team.”
