Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Amons to Regional Director, effective April 2026. This promotion follows Mike’s successful tenure as Director, during which he demonstrated exceptional leadership, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to advancing employment and adult services throughout his market.
In his new role, Mike will continue to lead, coach, and develop his teams while ensuring the highest quality of service for the clients, families, and communities served by WOU. His advancement to Regional Director reflects years of dedication, professional growth, and mission-driven leadership within the organization.
Mike joined WOU in 2014 as a Career Resource Specialist and was later promoted to Team Lead in Providence before becoming Director of the newly created Blackstone market. In his new role, he will oversee the Blackstone, Framingham, Worcester, Massachusetts, and Bristol, Rhode Island markets. Prior to joining WOU, Mike spent seven years in secondary education, working in social studies, special education, English language learner (ELL) education, and transition education across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Reflecting on his journey with the organization, Mike shared:
“At WOU, we are changing the world of work every day. We change perceptions about how individuals with barriers engage with their communities and develop meaningful vocational lives. Work is where all of us stand shoulder to shoulder with our peers, sharing the same expectations and rewards. The impact of this work extends far beyond the individuals we support — it reaches their families, communities, and workplace cultures as a whole. Being part of an organization where the impact is so tangible, the culture is so enriching, and the relationships are so meaningful is why I continue to work at WOU.”
Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Secondary Education from Worcester State University. He resides with his wife in the Blackstone Valley and enjoys spending time outdoors, including hiking, landscaping, and exploring nature.
