Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is pleased to announce the promotion of Darlene Hayden to Vice President, effective April 2026. This promotion follows a successful tenure as Regional Director, where Darlene demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to advancing employment and adult services throughout the regions she supports.
In her new role, Darlene will continue to lead, coach, and develop her teams while ensuring the highest quality of service for the individuals, businesses, and communities served by WOU.
Darlene joined WOU in 2010 as Director for the Worcester market and steadily advanced through the organization. In 2018, she was promoted to Regional Director, overseeing the Worcester market and later expanding her leadership into New Hampshire. Her progression to Vice President reflects years of dedication, operational excellence, and mission-driven leadership.
Prior to joining WOU, Darlene spent more than a decade in the early childhood and supplemental education fields, serving in leadership and director-level roles.
Reflecting on her journey with the organization, Darlene shared:
“I applied to work at Work Opportunities Unlimited back in 2010 after researching the company’s Mission Statement and Core Values. Once I joined the organization, I quickly realized these were not simply words on a website, but values we truly live and breathe every day. I enjoy working with individuals who are excited about the world of work and supporting team members in their own growth and development.”
Darlene earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Fitchburg State College. She resides in New Hampshire with her husband, son, and two dogs, and enjoys traveling to new places to experience different cultures and environments.
