(Lowell, MA) – Jennifer Roman of Hudson, New Hampshire, has received the Success at Work Award from Work Opportunities Unlimited for her extraordinary commitment to helping people with disabilities access the competitive workplace.
As a Career Resource Specialist, Roman is tasked with removing the barriers to employment for people with disabilities and supporting individuals while they are on-the-job. Roman is known for the remarkable lengths to which she will go, to ensure that each person she serves can pursue their own unique career goals and be successful at navigating the world of work.
Roman was recognized for her efforts to help an individual with disabilities, who had very little work experience, overcome several obstacles to the workplace including transportation, intrapersonal, and employment skills; she also developed a strong partnership with the employer and worked on her own time to make sure that her client was successful.
“Over the course of the last four years, Jennifer has done amazing work with individuals to help them fulfill their dreams of employment,” says Tiffney Bergeron, Director of Work Opportunities in Lowell, MA. “Jenn is able to balance the sense of urgency for clients to find work, with the need to connect and help each person see his or her own value. The Work Opportunities team and our clients are fortunate to work with someone so passionate and skilled.”
Upon presenting the award, Work Opportunities President and CEO, Steve Wood, honored Roman “for her commitment to the company’s core value, ‘We believe all people can work.’ Of special note are Jennifer’s high rate of placements, and especially her 18-month diligence in successfully placing a client who had many challenges in her life. Jennifer’s positive attitude and commitment to clients, make her a great teammate and a Success at Work!”
“Supporting clients and seeing them grow and accomplish their career goals is by far one of the most rewarding feeling one can have,” says Roman. “It’s not just about placing a client in a position, but rather it’s about making certain the individual is fulfilled and flourishing. Supporting an individual, helping them to build confidence and success is rewarding in itself. The Success at Work Award is just another way Work Opportunities recognizes the dedication and efforts their employees exhibit. Thank you, Work Opportunities!”
