Get to know our incredible Career Resource Specialist, Rebeca Irvin! Her top priority is discovering ways that we can better serve our clients in the Boston region.

Finding New Roots

The aroma of fresh coffee and sugar-coated pastries permeated the air, but that’s not what Rebeca came to this quaint coffee shop for. She is serving a much greater purpose; helping her first client of the day find the path to success!

Born in the Bluegrass State, Rebeca graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Justice Administration and the dream of helping others. After relocating to Massachusetts, she was referred to WOU by a former supervisor of hers who now works with us. Four years later, Rebeca is not inclined to slow down: “I have the freedom to help so many people. I have a flexible schedule and the full support of the management team. WOU is the reason I remain in Boston. They really care about their employees.”

 Success at Work

Let’s get back to that coffee shop! A unique part of the CRS role is that we can meet with individuals out in their local community. Typically, Rebeca will begin the job preparation process by performing work assessments, learning individual interests and strengths before diving into an extensive job search, employer outreach, and vocational training. All of this takes place in different community locations where the client feels most comfortable.

Here at Work Opportunities Unlimited, we are never satisfied – and neither is Rebeca! Recently, she placed a client into a wonderful career she loves and then went beyond the call of duty, helping her to obtain a driving permit, housing in an improved neighborhood and a solid plan to continue this success.  This is a prime example of why Rebeca comes to work every morning with a smile on her face; “In so many jobs, you do the work, but you don’t see the results. Every day, I’m able to help people and see them succeed.”

Rebeca’s enthusiasm and work ethic shine a spotlight on those we aim to serve, upholding our value in believing all people can work. Furthermore, her mission is as strong as ours – creating new opportunities for SUCCESS in the workplace, every day.
